LMU Student Affairs Social Media Best Practice: Collaborate and Support other LMU/Student Affairs related Social Media Pages

Collaboration is a priority and value of the division and is seen in countless programs, events and committees.  Currently the Division of Student Affairs has over 130 social media accounts.  With so many areas engaging in social media, it becomes very important for open lines of communication to exist across departments.  Social media should not be done in silos, as individuals can share best practices and learn from other people.  In addition, content can and should be shared generously.  By communicating openly, individuals can share best practices and learn from other people on their own campus.

Check out how LMU FitWell, ASLMU and Mane Entertainment Facebook pages are sharing/support divisional content.

Within LMU Student Affairs there are many departments all with unique messages and distinct audiences.  It would not make sense to have just one social media entity to represent the entire division or university, so departments should be able to establish their own accounts.

To aid communication, training and development the Student Affairs Social Media Workgroup will offer the following opportunities to further our collaborative work with social media.

  1. Social Media Managers monthly meetings
  2. Student Leader Think Tanks
  3. Semester Professional Development Workshops
  4. Department 1-1 Consulting

If you or your department have any other ideas for offerings, please contact the workgroup at LMUsaSocialMedia@gmail.com.
